An Introduction to Ecclesiastes, Austin Duncan

Ecclesiastes is a book full of unanswered questions.  Call it mystery or ambiguity, I'm okay with that.

In this brief introduction to Ecclesiastes by Austin Duncan we hear that:
1. Ecclesiastes changes the way that you think about your life.  Ecclesiastes is a collection of perspectives on life, but we shouldn't try to make one of these proverbs be the summary of the whole book.  They must stand together and teach an entirely new of seeing life.
2. Ecclesiastes changes the way that you think about death.  It teaches that you will be better at living if you have a clear understanding about and expectation of death.
3. Ecclesiastes confronts the way we think about wisdom.  It teaches us that wisdom is not understanding the reason behind every act of providence (that is, why God does what he does in every circumstance).  We live in a fallen world and many of our experiences will not be made sense of in this life.  Learning wisdom is to learn to live by faith, not by sight.
4. Ecclesiastes teaches us to consider the outcome of our lives in the light of the glorious, good news about Jesus.
